Cocoa Vino - (featured on "Get Fresh With Sara Snow") _
Two conscientious confectioners have proven you don't have to sacrifice your pleasure or your principals for chocolate. The two women who run this business wanted to bring their ideas about sustainability and organics and create a handmade product. Even their packaging is environmentally sound. They ship all of their chocolate in 100% recycled cardboard and the packing peanuts are compostable and bio degradable (amazing!). They are made from 95% cornstarch so they will dissolve in water. You could actually eat them but I'd stick to the chocolate!! They also support the Fair Trade movement. Cocoa farmers around the world often times live in horrible poverty and have been known to employ child slave labor. As if that is not enough all of the energy they use in their kitchen and offices are wind generated!!
Health Info -
_
Studies show that eating chocolate, primarily dark chocolate, may contribute to improved cardiovascular health. Packed with natural antioxidants, dark chocolate and cocoa sit in the same good-for-you category as green tea and blueberries. That's because chocolate comes from cacao beans (or cocoa beans), which grow on the cacao tree and are full of natural plant nutrients. Most of the studies to date highlight dark chocolate's health values because it has the highest percentage of cocoa solids, therefore more flavanol antioxidants.
